TANGERANG, – Officers of the Traffic Unit (Satlantas) of Tangerang City Police carried out emergency measures by repairing potholes on Jalan Raya Serang Km 24, Balaraja District, Tangerang Regency, on Wednesday (January 21, 2026).
The repairs were carried out following the high intensity of rainfall in recent days. Road conditions with potholes at several points can become pools of standing water, which pose potential dangers to road users.
“Potholes covered by water are prone to causing traffic accidents, especially for two-wheeled vehicle riders,” said Head of Traffic Unit of Tangerang City Police, AKP Zaeni Aji Bakhtiar, who led the repairs.
Zaeni added that Satlantas personnel carried out temporary patching using brick materials, paving blocks, and asphalt sand to cover potholes considered the most dangerous. During the repair process, he said, traffic flow was observed to be busy but remained smooth with officers managing traffic on site.
“This step is a form of the police’s quick response in ensuring the safety and comfort of road users,” he stated.
Zaeni also said that the quick response was a follow-up to directives from the Tangerang City Police Chief, Senior Commissioner (Kombes Pol) Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah, who emphasized that officers must be proactive in assisting the community.
Therefore, Zaeni continued, high rainfall has the potential to cause road damage and standing water that covers potholes, endangering motorists.
“We are carrying out emergency handling so that the risk of accidents can be minimized,” he said.
Zaeni emphasized that the repairs carried out are temporary while waiting for permanent handling from the relevant agencies. His party has also coordinated to encourage further repairs so that road conditions return to being proper and safe to pass.
“We urge all road users to remain cautious, reduce speed when passing through vulnerable road sections, especially during rain,” he added.
